The Star Wine List of the Year International Open 2026 highlights exceptional wine lists from around the globe, judged by top sommeliers and industry experts. In the Australasia & Oceania region, New Zealand venues featured among the winners, sitting alongside standouts from Australia.

We are excited to see several NZ Sommeliers members recognised among the winners this year.

Congratulations to Jackie Jubel and The Cellar Dunedin who were awarded a Gold Star as Best Newcomer, an impressive nod for a young venue whose carefully curated list made an immediate impression. The Cellar Dunedin also picked up a Silver Star for Best Short List.

Congratulations to Giulio Barducci, Toast & Oak in Queenstown, who picked up Silver Stars

for Best Italian Wine List, Best Medium Sized List and Best by-the-glass List.

Congratulations also goes to Charley Noble Eatery & Bar in Wellington, awarded Gold for the Best Short List.

Together, these wins shine a light on the depth and diversity of New Zealand’s wine scene and the people putting real care into what is poured and shared.
