Čuvar 2026 New Releases with Dave Macintosh
Čuvar Winery – Family Winemakers since 1949
Sir George Fistonich was 21 when he launched Villa Maria in 1961, going on to become one of the most influential figures in New Zealand wine: the first to pay growers on grape quality rather than quantity, and the first major winery to move to screwcap. Sir George was knighted for his contribution to the industry.
After Villa Maria was sold in 2021, Sir George founded Čuvar Winery, so he could continue his passion for making fine wine. Čuvar is now led by his daughter Karen Fistonich, continuing a family legacy that began when Karen’s Croatian grandparents first started making wine in their new homeland in 1949.
The tasting will be led by the talented Čuvar Winemaker Dave Macintosh, who will be sharing some of the exciting new releases from the 2026 vintage.
