Alessandro Carraro
Alessandro’s journey into winemaking began in 2016 while working in hospitality, where pairing food and wine sparked his passion. Before he knew it, he had enrolled in a Viticulture and Oenology degree at the University of Udine, his hometown in Italy - a move he still calls the best decision of his life.
After graduating in 2019, having already completed three vintages in Italy and one in Australia, he fully embraced the life of a travelling winemaker. Combining his love for travel with the opportunity to gain invaluable global experience, his career took him to South Africa, California, France, and New Zealand. And New Zealand is the place he now calls home, after completing seven vintages in Marlborough.
Alessandro stepped into the role of Assistant Winemaker at Spy Valley in 2024. He thoroughly enjoys working with a diverse range of varietals and brings a strong passion for winemaking trials and innovation.
