ASI CERTIFICATION 2 EXAM

The ASI Certification 2 exam is meant to assess the competencies of a professional sommelier able to function as a fully competent sommelier.

This certification covers the international knowledge needed for a sommelier to fit in any restaurant around the world and manage the floor. ASI Certificate 2 can only be examined from September to November each year.

2025 ASI Certificate 2 Examination

1. A written full organoleptic description of an international wine served blind, selected by the EEC member (15 minutes).
2. Identifying three mainstream international spirits/liquors chosen by the EEC member (3 minutes).
3. A written questionnaire with 60 questions (60 minutes).
4. A service task for two clients, including serving a wine and an alternative beverage, suggesting a food pairing, and the ability to verbally describe and sell an international wine in a fine dining environment (approximately 12 minutes). The EEC member will communicate task details and time allocation to the NZ Sommeliers and Wine Professionals.

The pass mark is 60% (aggregated).
