We welcomed our guest sommeliers from Australia and Japan on Saturday 26 July and promptly went to show them some hospitality highlights of Auckland.

Kaneko Toshiyuki: Guest Sommelier from Tokyo

Momoka Mitake: Sommelier Andaz Tokyo Toranomon Hills

Starting first at Normanby Fine Wines for a tasting in their private room.

We then returned to the city to dine at The Lodge Bar, at Commercial Bay with other NZ Sommelier committee members. This is the flagship restaurant of Chef Mat Lambert.

Meat pie croquette, smoked cheddar

Market crudo, blood orange, grapefruit, caper

Cured salmon, vichyssoise, leek , potato , jalapeño

Coastal lamb shoulder, sweetbreads, alliums, rosemary

Awatoru Red Deer ragu, rigatoni, sofrito, herbed ricotta

Wild wapiti deer, butternut, blackcurrant, winter greens GF

Sticky toffee pudding, miso caramel, traditional vanilla ice cream
