ASI CERTIFICATION Two Expressions of Interest for Monday 13 November exam
This is the first time that ASI have offered this certification.
It consists of theory, tasting and identification of wine and spirits and service tasks.
One member of the ASI Exam Committee work with the local assessors via Zoom, to invigilate the assessments.

ASI DIPLOMA Monday 22 January 2024 exam
The ASI Diploma establishes international standards that promote greater quality and professionalism in the quality of sommelier work worldwide. This international examination is held once each year and enables New Zealand candidates to achieve this accreditation.
Applicants must be working sommeliers in restaurants, wine bars, wine retail, distribution with at least 4 years of sommelier experience.
Candidates can opt between taking the exam in a second language (French, English or Spanish) or in their native language. This language requirement, which is only present at the Diploma level, encourages sommeliers to master a language beyond their own.
- Gold Designation: Candidates who achieve at least 70% on the exam in a foreign language
- Silver Designation: Candidates who achieve at least 60% on the exam in a foreign language
- Bronze Designation: Candidates who achieve the same level of expert knowledge but are not fluent in a foreign language.
Sommeliers who have obtained a Bronze or Silver diploma are always welcome re-sit again.
Mentoring sessions and briefings will held as part of New Zealand Sommeliers Tasting Club during 2023.
